As the waves battered the side of his small fishing boat, Samuel clung desperately to the mast, the roar of the storm drowning out his own gasping breaths. The sky was a menacing shade of grey, and Samuel had been caught unaware, far from the coast. The fishing trip, which had started under a cloudless sky, had taken a dangerous turn.

Lena always felt a connection with horses, as though they shared a secret language. Growing up in the vast countryside, her parents never could afford to buy her one. When she turned sixteen, using the savings she'd accumulated from odd jobs around the village, she bought a young, wild stallion named Starfire.

Mara had always been the perfect student, her life charted out in neatly organized plans and to-do lists. Every step she took was in pursuit of academic excellence, aiming for a secure future.
